Strong Has Officially Turned Tennessee Down....Bobby Petrino Anyone?

52 posts in this topic

Here is the report.

Larry Fedora is now the front runner?

This now makes three times that Tennessee has to settle on its 5th or 6th choice.....guess we will be doing this again in say three years?

Maybe it's just a s--tty job no one wants anymore?

Bad job or not do they not have $4.5 million per year up there in Dollywood?

There aren't a whole lot of 4.5-5 million dollar guys out there right now. Strong ain't worth that; no way.

If Hart was willing to go with a coordinator instead of a previous head coach, that would have opened things up quite a bit.

Just hire an Aints player for a bounty on Peyton Manning, reinjure his neck, end his career, and then offer him the coaching job.

How available is Chip Kelly? What about Gary Patterson? Bobby Petrino? Y'all could get slutty Bobby P for $1.5 per.

I would love to have Chip Kelly! Zero top 10 recruiting classes (according to Scout) and yet a national championship contender every year. Nike's got money though. I don't see him or anyone leaving Oregon for Tennessee.

Bargain Basement Bobby is an option I suppose. There's no doubt we could get him if we wanted him.

I don't understand this at all. I know Tennessee isn't what it once was when Fulmer was running the show in his his prime years but it still has a huge fanbase support with an athletic department and boosters willing to do whatever it takes to improve their program. It is a bit shocking to me that they still haven't been able to get one of their top targets.

Petrino, as if Tennessee doesn't have a bad enough rep already.

We're just gonna move the General Neyland statue to the sidelines and act like he's still our HC.

Neither Larry Fedora nor Butch Jones have turned us down yet. Let's ask them. When they say no, I guess we should look toward coaches who have played for us or previously coached here like Ed Orgeron.

At this rate, Neyland Stadium will have to remove seats during its next expansion.

It does seem like Jones is good at getting his teams to improve over the course of each season.

heeeyy... that was an auburn fan... funny to watch nonetheless. Pretty sure the tree will be fine.   "Wiest was developed as a suspect and immediately taken into custody while still in the area on an unrelated charge of public intoxication," according to a press release from Auburn police. "Further investigation resulted in Wiest being identified as the individual responsible for setting the fire and a warrant was obtained for his arrest. He was arrested while incarcerated in the Lee County jail on the prior charge and his bond was set at $1000." Looks like the dude was on a drunken rampage. http://www.al.com/auburnfootball/index.ssf/2016/09/oak_tree_at_toomers_corner_set.html

UT had a lot of dropped balls yesterday and still beat our asses anyway.

Yeah I wouldn't be too confident on that, it's still a rivalry and you know how those go. If Georgia's WRs can actually catch a ball, they'll have more scores. Eason put it on them consistently.

If you want to laugh look at our 2013 class, it's largely why we have been terrible for 2 years. It was a bad class with laughable attrition. Richt recruited way too many reaches/projects at OL and whiffed on all the good instate receivers outside of MM/TGod.   UGA is very lacking at OL/WR/DB, and lacks depth at DL/LB/OL. Obviously our kicking game is the pits, we literally cannot make 30 yard field goals
