Going to an interesting time.

Kentucky will soon be looking for a HC, as Calipari will probably take the Knicks job before too long.

Also, SC will be looking for a HC as well.

Whoever it is we get, I hope that he puts his foot down on day one and demands the respect of the players. As we all know, this is something Stans lost control of once Kirby left. (Players calling him "Rick" or "Stansbury".)

Would like to see a young coach with a fiery passion for the game who emphasizes fundamentals AND ACTUALLY WATCHES FILM. (Something I don't think Stans ever did.)

#ShakaForState

But seriously, I don't know. None of the current assistants - and not Kirby either.

Since you guys have been to the dance and had 20 win seasons your position should be attractive to some of the younger coaches.I think you guys will land a good one.

Rumor is Shaka Smart's agent has been contacted and he may be interested. If not Smart, I would like Steve Prohm. Just watched Murray State and he has them playing really.

Murray States coach would be an unwise choice for a high major.

First year head coach, coaching with another coaches seniors.

Yep. Give him a couple years to see if he can sustain success. Smart, Greg Marshall, Randy Bennett, Brad Stephens. Those are the guys MSU needs to be calling.

Steve Prohm...1st year and they already have a 30 win season. Easy SOS but impressive coach no doubt.

If not, Stevens or Sparks.

I hope this is true. Smart would be a great hire!

Shaka Smart fits the MSU mold. Wouldn't mind Gregg Marshall either. Seeing the results of the game which just concluded, let's go with Shaka Smart.

If we go the assistant route, I think Wojo from Duke would be a nice fit in terms of young, energetic, and good with X's and O's. Might be a problem to adjust a Duke style system to MSU. We seem to like hiring assistants from top programs (Mullen, new women's coach from aTm, softball)

see here is my deal with prohm...seems to be a very good x & o guy because of recent success but we dont know about recruiting/everything else...i would LOVE a x & o guy as long as someone can still bring in the talent and prohm could very well be that...

its like when fox was hired at UGA, i still think he is a helluva coach but not sure the recruiting aspect will stay on par with his actual coaching...he is like the opposite of stans...i wanted fox when they hired him and i would still love to see what he could do with our talent...but then i think about a calapari offspring type hire and while i think pastner is still a few years away from being legit ( and i think he will be), we could take a flyer on one (payne)...but the name of the game now and really always has been is bringing in the talent and CONTROLLING them...hopefully stricklin will find that guy...

Greg Marshall is a joke. 14 years as a head coach: no sweet sixteen. This dude bounces off the NCAA tourney as badly as anyone in the country.

You can't honestly crucify stans by tourney performance then champion Greg Marshall

Why would we hire an assistant? We are a high major with great fascilities and 2 mil to drop.

Get a freaking head coach. Pay risk out of the situation with a proven winner.

You know... Maybe he's learned his lesson.

If not him, Gus Johnson. We would not lack enthusiasm in the Hump, then.

I don't know if I want Gregg Marshall. He is a good coach, don't get me wrong, but if we have 2 million to drop on a coach like a lot of people in the loop are saying, I don't want Marshall. He is about 50 and I think we need a young 30 something coach with high energy. Smart, Prohm, Drew, etc.

And you keep mistaking me for some ardent Trump fan. Don't know how many times I have to tell you, I voted for Kasich and loved when Mitt Romney tore Trump apart   I am about as far from a protectionist as you will find

Exactly, he tells you what you want to hear. With no plan to follow.... But he'll reveal it soon...afrer all, its only two months til election..he'll let us know pretty soon, I reckon, what his plan is.... but that wall is the plan, millions of dollars that will be pissed off before construction, then billions to build it and we pay for it.When I say we,i don't include trump because he don't pay taxes. He's a rich welfare baby.... screw that deadbeat bitch...

Maybe it's been so long since we have seen a candidate with a clue we don't recognize them anymore.  Boarders, Standards (law), and Culture. The fundamental essence of a nation. As it stands the system has all but removed them from this dying once great nation. Nobody respects them anymore. No one want to acknowledge they matter. Hell Trump wasn't my first or second choice but he has the message we need to hear
