Vandy's all the way down at 23. I would expect that to change fairly quickly.

How dare they put UF in front of us. We are #1 until the Gatas prove they can beat us.

Florida has extraordinary starting pitchers, relievers and closers for any potential hitting matchup. Offensively, the team hit .307 with 69 home runs last season and belted 143 doubles as the Gators averaged 6.3 runs per game. In the final 2011 national NCAA statistics, Florida ranked No. 1 in hits by its offense (755), No. 5 in doubles, and No. 5 in homers.

The pitching staff ranked No. 1 in the nation in walks allowed per nine innings at 1.82. The staff had a 2.95 team ERA and had more than a 4:1 strikeout to walk ratio (547 strikeouts and 130 walks).

Opponents had a difficult time running on the Gators last season with an All-American catching in Zunino and a pitching staff that kept runners close. Only 31 bases were stolen off the Gators last season in 47 attempts over 72 games.

Outstanding stats, just hope we can finish at No.1 this time around.

We didn't lose the 2010 CWS to y'all.

It's not like you guys have been dominating us.

But I sort of agree.

If SC is good enough to be ranked preseason Top5, they might as well be No.1

Nope. I smell a back to back to back in 2012.

I am just messing. Still we should be ranked #1.

I'm worried about the SC offense. The pitching should be fantastic again though. I'd say at this moment, Florida is the better team. I'm not even sure that SC belongs in the top 5 considering the talent you lost this spring. But don't kill me Cocks. You know I'm a huge Tanner fan

You guys are unbearable.

TrueGCFan, read the rest of my post.

Maybe I should rephrase: We lost the series with you guys in 2011 and lost the CWS to you guys in 2011.

That doesn't mean you guys have beaten us so much recently that you should be ranked ahead.

If SC is going to be ranked ahead, it's because the run last year was so unlikely they might well do it again.

Panties out of wad my friend. I'm just joking. In baseball rankings mean less than nothing.

UF is a very good team and overall have better talent than USC.

We haven't won the last two CWS because we had better talent. We've won because we were the best team.

That is fair. But we won last year because of pitching. As a Gamecock fan we know gorilla ball will only get you so far. Look at our teams in the early 2000s.

Plus with the bat changes pitching has become that much more important.

When we are two months from playing a game, rankings mean everything.

It's all we have right now.

Besides, you were half joking at best!

It was a total joke. I'm not all of these other new Gamecock posters.

We lost a lot...having studs come in though with the number 1 recruiting class will help but we're really young...plus we still gon't have Pecararo who is recovering from Tommy John surgery and is likely out all year....

We retained Price and Roth, imo that gives us a huge edge over a lot of teams.

I think Wingo, JBJ, and Taylor were our biggest loses, and they will be missed greatly.
