2018 Official Atlanta Braves Season

54 posts in this topic

First Spring Training game today at 1:10 ET. With Miami tanking, the Phillies still expected to be horrible and you never know wtf is going to happen with the Mets, the Braves have the chance to be in 2nd place of the division and still not have a winning record at the end of the year.

Either way. Excited to see if Swanson has a bounce back year and how he and Albies gel up the middle.

While he may start in the minors for contract reasons, excited to see what Ronald Acuna brings in his rookie year.

Freedie bombs as well as hugs should be back to full strength.

Off Keith Law's top 100 prospects, 10 are Braves. Of those 10, 8 are SP/RP. So I am interested in seeing some young arms come up but also curious as to what the front office will be able to do in way of moves and trades to continue to build on the foundation that is Swanson, Albies and Acuna.

Honestly, (and I would NOT be a fan of this), but if the team is horrible at the halfway point but the 3 mentioned above are showing signs of becoming the foundation of the franchise, I could see the front office trading Freeman for a ton of prospects to start filling multiple needs over the next year or two.

We are still looking to add another bat and starting arm before the season. Still need one of our young arms to become ace material. Austin Riley is going to be a legit bat but is still a year away. I was really hoping we’d get Corey Dickerson but oh well. I know we are looking at Hunter Renfroe. Not as excited about that. But he’s still young and has a ton of pop

Definitely thought you were talking about this guy at first.

Swansom hit a bomb yesterday for his 1st hit of the spring.

Acuna has been struggling at the plate but looks good out there running down fly balls. I haven't seen him in a situation where he had to throw down a runner or anything yet, but I only have been able to watch pieces of games so far.

I try to watch and enjoy baseball at the beginning of every season, I’ll try again this year.

Folty is focusing on his mechanics more than his pitching. He’s going to pitch purely from the stretch most likely.

Not sure how this year goes, but really hope Freddie goes on a tear again and stays healthy. He was on pace to have a MONSTER year last season.

a pitcher making a throwing error to first base is completely unacceptable.

That's how SC beat Clemson Friday night.  Botched pickoff attempt in the bottom of the 9th got our guy to 3rd.  SACF got him in for a 3-2 win.

Good opening day win for the Braves over the Phillies.  Down 5-0, the Braves come back and tie it and then get the W with a 3-run HR by Markakis in the 10th.  8-5 Final

Series win - I'll take it.

Interesting schedule start to the season.

9 games against Philly, 7 games with Mets, 6 games with Nats and 2 tough road series at the Rockies and Cubs. (16 road games)

I will really get excited about the possibility of finishing about .500 depending on how that stretch of games goes.
