Great umpiring

Umpire has his back to home plate as catcher receives the throw and applies the tag. The stupid sob is picking up the bat on the first base line.

Runner's foot hit the catcher's shoe and went over home plate. Runner never did touch the plate.

that's a tough one, to be honest. could have gone either way. i watch it once it looks like the runner beat it, watch it again I think he's out.

sucks for Bama, though.

I think safe was a good call, after watching it several times. You can't expect an umpire to see if the guy's cleats go over the plate by a millimeter or two.

Either way that call went, the other manager would have gone out to argue. Umpire could definitely been in better position, though.

I honestly think the runner was safe, but the sheer fact that the home plate umpire allowed himself to be in a position where his back was turned to the play at the plate is absolutely absurd.
