Rick Ray fired.

He didn't get the wins, but I am shocked and disappointed with his firing. He only had a healthy roster one year and we showed improvement. We also were recruiting well. He is a great basketball mind and I am sure he will find success in his next venture.

As for replacements, I think the obvious choice is to bring Stansbury back. He has proven he can win here. Would love to return here. He can recruit on a high level. And it takes away a top assistant from an SEC rival. Thoughs?

Kudos to State for not dragging this out a few more years. Said from the get go he wasn't going to get it done.

I would actually like to see State hire Slick Rick again just to reignite the rivalry we had before.

The landscape of college basketball has changed from the end of The Stansbury era. He would be a great fit now

kinda surprised at the firing, but elated in the decision. this was bound to fail. maybe we can keep him as some sort of basketball defensive coordinator.

the beautiful mind's bags are packed, removed, and being loaded on the gtfo train as we speak.

Stansbury might go Bama if offered. Cold day in hell before he goes back to State.

He didn't want to leave in the first place. The landscape of college basketball has shifted to where he would make us one of the top 2 or 3 teams in the SEC within 2 years. He is the best fit

We all know you want nothing to do with Stans because he had us competing against you guys and made our program better than yours for a few years.

You are scared that having Donovan, Pearl and Stans all in the conference spells trouble for the Squid

Absolutely. Kentucky has obviously struggled against them all. Only managed to win by 15ppg instead of 25+. It's mildly disconcerting.

Stans won't come back to work in MS. Long as he works out of state he can draw his paycheck and his retirement he got from msu. Work in ms and the retirement goes away.

His retirement wouldn't pay him $1 million/yr and Strickland would. That being said, I'd bet on you hiring Andy Kennedy before I'd bet on Stans coming back...

This was very surprising. Had to be done however. Bet Stricklin was feeling his own seat get hot.

Out of curiosity, do you have any reasons as to why not other than your own personal hatred of the man? He is the obvious choice. He wants to come back. He has recruited elite talent and won at MSU and the landscape of college basketball has shifted to where he is a great fit for us seeing the state of the SEC.

I understand this is like arguing with a tree stump because you all hate him so much you can't see what would be best for MSU if it means Stansbury has any more success.

His retirement package was pretty fat from what I understand. Combined he's probably making a mil plus now without the head coach headaches not to mention what he stashed outside retirement in the years he was hc.

I can't speak for j but personally I just don't like retreading. Move forward not back. It's the same reason the Diaz hire for DC was a meh hire to me...

On the contrary, I actually like Stansbury the person and thought he was a great representative of our university.

I just don't think we need to rehash something that we've already buried. Why do the same thing again but expect different results?

That is literally all the information I need to say I don't want him back, and it's absolutely nothing personal to him as a person.

Also will never tell you it's got a headache when you get a few beers in you and decide to throw some meat in it...   I bought a Kamado knockoff a few years ago and love it. My egg didn't survive the move back to Mississippi and I just couldn't pull the trigger on another. For big grillin and smoking I built my own out of an old propane tank cut down by 1/3rd. Can do about ten Boston butts at a time. Smoked a half-dozen and pulled them for the fire dept and ems this past Wednesday. Did 24 half chickens at once last fall. Drawback is it takes a pile of charcoal to get it hot and keep it going.

Been way too long but we finally got a 5* commitment. Obviously a long way to go but hopefully we can hold on to him. This class really could end up being something special. https://southcarolina.rivals.com/news/five-star-defensive-end-zacch-pickens-commits-to-gamecocks   The state's top overall prospect decided not to wait. Originally planning to make his decision towards the end of his senior season, Anderson (S.C.) T.L. Hanna class of 2019 five-star defensive end  Zacch Pickens  committed to South Carolina Friday, according to sources at his spring game.   It was a team recruiting effort from the Gamecocks as head coach Will Muschamp, defensive line coach Lance Thompson, defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson and linebackers coach Coleman Hutzler all had a strong role in landing the nation's No. 16 overall prospect. Pickens was last on South Carolina's campus earlier this spring for a cookout event. Pickens, considered the No. 3 strongside defensive end in the country by Rivals, chooses South Carolina over offers from Alabama, Florida State, Clemson, Georgia, Nebraska, North Carolina, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech and West Forest.  It was believed throughout the process that Clemson and Georgia were the two other top contenders. Pickens is the 12th commitment to Carolina's 2019 class.       This commitment bumps us up to #8 for the time being.

Go back and read the article and it’s obvious. McCain can summon congress to work on a bipartisan healthcare bill? How long has he had to work on it? And what did he do, cast his vote to spit in the face of the bill he and republicans had all that time to work on. He can pass tax reform to create jobs? That’s already been done. He can continue his leadership on immigration reform and global warming? Just lol. Just admit that McCain spoke out against Trump on some issues so now he’s a hero to you when you wouldn’t have given him a second thought otherwise.
