An Open Letter to Rolling Coal

93 posts in this topic

Dear Coal Rollers,

As a Prius driver I thought I would pass on that: I can not tell a difference between on old truck that is burning oil because the engine is in bad repair and someone rolling coal on me because I'm a socialist. This is because there are so many trucks on the road that leave behind a black cloud of smoke that your protest just blends into the background. If I may offer a suggesting; if you are going to do it at least let me know by having a passenger hang out the window to video it or maybe put a sign on your truck that says "I'm attempting to harm your 20 month old daughter because you drive a fuel efficient vehicle." Also make sure it is a day with sufficiently high atmospheric pressure so that your little puff of smoke has a chance of actually hitting my tiny little car, I would hate for you to waste so much money on smog clouds that impenitently float up into the sky. Otherwise, I will not know that you are trying to annoy me and will drive along in my aerodynamic and airtight car thinking I wonder what's wrong with that truck? If you will at least give me the this small courtesy, I promise to shake my fist in the air so that you I can bring a tiny ray of happiness to your day. Maybe if you do a good enough job smoking me I may even rear end you. Man, I bet the court would probably make me even pay you out of my welfare check.

Sincerely,

Matt

PS. 'Merica!

Damn prius drivers. Damn "coal rollers" too. I'm just trying to get back and forth to work without getting a ticket from the big government police state so that I can afford to survive and contribute tax revenue for the services that our community needs.

Eastern Kentucky can ill afford to lose the coal industry. As poverty stricken as the area is, it'd be absolutely detrimental to this state if we lost the industry entirely.

Prius drivers couldn't fit in anywhere so they created their own cult. No big deal. Laugh at them and they get mad. I can't see that a problem. Anytime you are bored just go find one and laugh. You will enjoy your own humor for days.

They really piss me off when I'm going up the entry ramp trying to blend into traffic. I'm approaching 70 and those f*****s are running 35 so they can justify the 30k they paid for that under powered p.o.s.

Why the antagonism?

I get that prius drivers can be pretentious, but what is wrong with trying to curb our polluting ways? They don't sound any different from the ridiculous big truck drivers trying to validate their small penis syndrome.

Dollar cost averaging is your friend...or rather barrels-of-oil-consumed cost averaging. Weighted cost of additional barrels of oil used to produce the vehicle, the production and replacement of the batteries and also the oil burned to create electricity that charges the rolling electric vagina versus average mileage per year compared to non hybrid vehicles and their respective consumptive footprint(s) and he'll be driving his 20 month old to her junior high school dance in that pos prius before he creates one iota of meaningful carbon emission savings over us neanderthals...AND that's assuming the Prius actually gets the reported 50mpg...I've heard its really closer to 40, which puts his infant daughter driving the Prius before he breaks carbon negativity, if it lasts that long...

But HYPE is always so much more satisfying than facts.

@@dawgbit,

If people would just drive sensible gas-burning vehicles instead of ridiculously huge trucks that they have no need for, there wouldn't be as much of a problem. Drive a 4 door car that gets 30 mpg instead of a truck that gets 7 on highway. Its just common sense right?

Well that doesn't sound very fun

Why wouldn't people want to save money? Our Altima gets 35 mpg and up to 40 on some trips and I wish it got 400. I'd give up looking as manly for the 90% in fuel savings.

The electricity required to fuel these cars is fueled by coal. They lose but they just don't know it.

Find better small cars. If you can't have fun in an a car like MR2 or a 240sx, you should just give up your license.

@@The Doctor

I don't disagree. That said, it's merely the other end of the spectrum from those who proclaim so loudly and proudly the false merits of their so-called green cars. Green crazy save the planet hippies or good ole boy big tires and negative mpgs. Same stink, different assholes.

Common sense versus slick marketing...marketing is gonna win 90% of the time.

Edit to add, I'm dubious about the 7mpg thang. Tongue in cheek, yes? My v8 Chevy gets 21 city and close to 25 hwy. Even my OLD ('85--306k mi)farm truck get 16 or so piddling around the place.

Electricity comes from a whole host of sources, not just coal, even if it is a large percentage of it.

I drive a small 4 door car and get 21-24 mpg. I have friends with 4 door 4x4 trucks that get an avg of 17 in city and highway. Not much of a difference

Arkansas is only favored by 1 point more(35) over Alcorn State than Alabama is over Kentucky...that is insane.

Most people here probably think I love Trump but actually I just think he is the only chance we have to get someone in the office who will steer us off of this unsustainable path. Hillary has supported most attacks on the middle class. She loves NAFTA and supported the TPP. And as Trump pointed out(which I'm amazed hasn't gotten more attention) the only thing that seems good about the past 8 years is actually just an illusion. Once the fed stops unjustifiably propping up the stock market we'll be right back where we started when Obama walked into office, only with a s--t ton more debt. And Hillary wants to carry out the same types of policies. So we have someone who supports horrible policies, is incredibly corrupt, and will assuredly s--t all over the constitution with her Supreme Court nominations.    Trump may may or may not do much better, but he almost certainly couldn't do worse.

As is the Razorback Foundation.   there are more than two, but not money. Any funds directed toward the big three sports from the university are always sent back at the end of the year, usually with an extra $2-3 million attached

UGA has 0 talent at OL. True freshman QB. Possession WR's that cannot catch. Kickers cannot make middle-school level kicks. Half of our secondary are better at being matadors than corners

No. Gary Johnson is a pretty successful business man in his own right. I mean, he didn't have daddy's millions to build his business from so he didn't get quite to that level that Trump did having everything given to him.
