Three reasons why Florida will be better

Florida had one of its worst seasons in 30 years in 2013- slipping to 4-8, missing a bowl game for the first time since 1990 and having an uncharacteristically pedestrian offense. Gators head coach Will Muschamp revamped his offensive staff- bringing in Kurt Roper from Duke to install a more up-tempo attack. Chances are, the Gators will be better this season and here is why.

1- The Gators defense will again be quite salty

Florida had one of the best defenses in college football last season and the personnel is there to again have a sterling unit. Defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. and cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III both are All-American candidates. Also watch out for interior defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard.

2- David Cutcliffe says the offense will be better

Duke head coach David Cutcliffe praised Roper and almost guaranteed improvement on offense at Florida during a recent interview with the Paul Finebaum Show. Cutcliffe is one of the best coaches in the country and has forgotten more about college football than most of us will ever know.

3- There is too much talent

Despite the struggles of last season and the lack of the elite playmakers on offense Florida has had in the best, there are very good football players on the roster- UF has signed the No. 12 (2011), No. 4 (2012), No. 3 (2013) and No. 9 (2014) recruiting classes nationally the last four cycles. The Gators have better personnel than many of the teams on their schedule. Therefore, it stands to reason, they will get back on the winning side of things quickly. Quarterback Jeff Driskel, for example, was a five-star recruit. He’s got the raw talent to go out and help Florida score points.

The bottom line for Florida? How much better. I can see anywhere from 8-4 to 10-2, depending on how much better the offense actually is.

Look at the comments section too, fans of other teams expecting a solid turn around from the Gators

Reasons 2 and 3 are pretty bad ones. Are people expecting Cutcliffe to down his former assistant? And sure Florida has talent, but they had talent last year, too.

And I think it's well established at this point that Jeff Driskel isn't much better than a game manager. Which is fine given his defense, but claiming he's good enough to help the Florida offense succeed "because he was a 5 star recruit" doesn't mean a whole lot...

I expect UF will be better, but lold at "uncharacteristicslly pedestrian offense" will be better because "David Cutcliffe said so".

I think fla will be much better this year. They just had that run of luck where everything just seem to go wrong & all at once ! The team has talent, but has not been stable in awhile. Injuries & coaching carousel have really hurt them.

Urban will do a reverse Lebron

You heard it here first

You've got to be kidding. Urban has the eaisest coaching gig in the world. He only has to coach 2 maybe 3 games a year max.

He went undefeated his first year, but won nothing

He went undefeated in the regular season last year, but lost the B10CG and the bowl game

He seemed badly shell shocked by the Michigan State loss last year

Wait until the Buckeyes don't win anything again and Braxton Miller leaves

Put that with Muschamp's inevitable firing in Gainesville and there you go

Reason 1--HC wants to keep his job

Reason 2 -Less injuries

Reason 3- Good QB

UF will be better. If they lose 5 games this season Muschamp is gone. 8+ games he will stay

7-5 = fired

4-8 = staying

Got it.
