Licensing

Texas A&M has an uphill climb against the Longhorns, who have dominated collegiate licensing in the state, but recent trends show that the Aggies are enjoying a significant upward trajectory as members of the SEC. According to Jason Cook, Texas A&M was ranked 21st among Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) schools prior to moving to the SEC but finished the last fiscal year ranked 12th. Royalties jumped 27% in the six months following the SEC announcement, primarily due to the availability of SEC co-branded merchandise and an unconventional partnership with the SEC. For the most recent quarter, Texas A&M was #1 in royalty revenue growth among CLC schools and jumped to #8 in overall royalty revenue.

What's next?

The Aggies will continue to ride the SEC wave in the post-Johnny era. The conference gap is massive right now between the SEC and everyone else. There were twelve SEC teams ahead of the Longhorns in TV ratings for 2013. Ten SEC teams out-recruited the Longhorns for 2014 according to Rivals.com. Charlie Strong needs the Aggies to stumble and stumble badly if he wants to overcome conference inequality and put the Longhorns back on top in the state.

UCLA at 29th and USC at 30th is interesting to me and unless I missed it; Miami not in the top 30?

I must say I've never seen any university try so hard to show that they are better than an in-state rival.

He's definitely earning his check.  I've watched all of y'alls games this year and it just seemed like Tennessee was either playing to their competition or wasn't on the same page or I don't know what....spurts of really great football and then spurts of what the hell?   The difference this year is y'all have been able to overcome those things early in the season.  I think this win is going to be the galvanized game that takes y'all to Atlanta as much as it pains me to say it.

What he was good at doing this past off-season is hiring Bob Shoop. I had the incredible pleasure of watching John Chavis coordinate our defense for over a decade here, and Bob Shoop brings me memories of Chavis' defenses. So good at halftime adjustments. How many DCs in this game can gameplan to overcome losing 3 of their top 4 players, when those 3 will all be drafted in the first two rounds?(Sutton and JRM this upcoming draft, and Kirkland whenever he decides to leave) If Shoop isn't one of the top candidates for the Broyles award(top assistant coach in college football) so far, the award is a sham.
