You guys should take half of that and start a football program. ;) Pretty amazing facility though.

The sides are going to be completely transparent so you can see inside when you're driving by on Main, Vine, Broadway, etc. Driving by that on the left, Triangle on the right, and the upcoming Town Branch project, plus the completion of Centrepointe down the way....downtown is going to be completely different in 5 years.

You have to consider that basketball pays for itself out of it's own separate pool here. Not using a dime of football money. Don't forget we're overhauling Commonwealth Stadium right now, as well as building a new practice facility.

Also don't forget that the city and UK are doing this together.

It looks a little like the new Amway Center.

What else is in it? It's too big to just be seating and concessions.

Yep. They're moving Heritage Hall to the West side. The Kentucky Dinner train and bourbon district will be right there too.

What you really have to consider is its going to be mostly taxpayer funded.

Very impressive, but less so when you know that since Rupp isn't owned by the University.

I know. I know. But its always easier to spend someone else's money

its a pretty cool rendering though.

will be interesting to see what everyone does with their facilities once even MORE SEC money starts rolling in. We're currently in the middle of a few projects (finishing up the football operations center and practice fields and the parking garages under the fields, indoor baseball facility, and the basketball practice facility. After that, expanding the football stadium, upgrading Bud Walton, and expanding Baum again.

UK was going to build an entirely new facility on campus that would have been privately funded but the city counter offered with this type of renovation. After seeing this plan...I'm all for it.

And it doesn't matter who funds it. It's bad ass.

True, but it eases my mind knowing ul fans are paying for it as well. :)

Funding a basketball project isn't exactly a difficult task in these parts. This is just one aspect of Mayor Gray's downtown revitalization.
