Peyton Manning man or myth?

44 posts in this topic

Myth.....

I think a little thing like trash talk and a cocky attitude got under his skin and it reverberated through the hole team..

When was the last time you saw Peyton try tooo fire the team up on the sideline?

Peyton = its all about me....turn in your vfl badge, bitch!

Since his junior year at UT he's won an SEC championship, 5 MVPs, 10 division titles, 11 playoff games, 3 AFC titles and a Super Bowl.

Joe Montana lost a playoff game 49-3 in his prime, when you're playing a great team this can happen.

Perhaps Seattle was just better than Denver? I think Peyton is a better quarterback than Wilson, but overall Seattle beat Denver at every single position on the field. It wasn't Peyton's fault Denver lost as bad as they did, his O-line didn't provide much time or protection.

Seattle pressured Peyton 147% more than the average team did to Denver all year.

Peyton had a 99 out of 100 QBR when he wasn't pressured.

There's no QB in NFL history that could've pulled this game out with Seattle playing that well.

Some of it still falls on Peyton's shoulders though. The great ones find a way to put their team in a position to win. He missed key throws throughout the entire game, on the biggest stage, that a 2nd year player made all game long for his team.

Come on, that's bulliaBdfkZ.png.

The game was 29-0 before Russell Wilson did anything of note.

Russel Wilson didn't exactly light it up....and the defense he was passing against wasn't even close to the level Peyton was.

So much this. Yeah, Peyton looked like Jordan Jefferson in the 2012 BCS game--but so did the rest of the Broncos.

Seattle played an inspired game.

Peyton's top three All time and MANY arguments can be made that he's number one.

The only two that might be better are Tom Brady and Joe Montana.

Literally the only number that favors Tom Brady against Peyton Manning is rings and congrats to Tom, but his defense stole the show in two of those games and hasn't won one since their cameras got exposed.

Joe Montana's stats would be better if he played today and had some great Super Bowl performances, but played in a time when parity in the NFL was a ridiculous concept. Walsh and co. built a powerhouse that rivals any dynasty in sports. In 4 super bowls, his defense gave up 16 points per game.

He made lots of plays where it mattered, on big third down situations. WIlson doesn't light it up but he does what he needs to. You don't need to be flashy to make good plays.

18/25 (At least 3 dropped passes, too) for 206 yards, 2 TD's, 26 rushing yards, and no turnovers... What more do you want from a second year QB?

He never made any mistakes, he made smart decisions, and he made the plays on second and long and on third down. He didn't need to do any more than that.

I didn't say he lit it up by any means, but he made plays when he had to. Peyton didn't

Lol....still mad Peyton went to UT?

And lets be serious, Eli had much better D on his teams(and rushing attack) and still had to throw a Hail Mary with his WR making an incredible catch to keep hope alive in the last one.

Yeah Peyton looked bad last night, but considering what he's done in his career it's dumb as hell to discount that after one bad performance against an amazing defense.

Peyton is a great QB, he simply ran into a defense that was starving to death and it showed quite glaringly.

Did I make assumptions on Peyton in my post? I couldn't care less that Peyton went to UT.

All I said was, you can say whatever you want about Eli now, but the guy got the job done in 2 Super Bowls. And their defense was good, but Eli made some awesome throws in the clutch in both Super Bowls. Giants will be back in the playoffs sooner rather than later too

Let's not forget that the Broncos system sets up Peyton very nicely for putting up huge numbers . And with those receivers?

1) You still need a rushing attack and a great defense to win a SB. And thank God for that!! Its the reason pro fb is better than college. Congrats to Seattle for reminding people what makes football good.

2) Wilson is a good QB. Peyton is the best at what he does. Anyone really think Wilson could have played better in Peyton's situation??

3) Game last night was freakishly bad for Denver. That opening safety was more than 2 points, it took pressure off of Seattle and dumped it on Denver.

tldr version: defense wins championships and Peyton still one of the best QBs ever.
