2014 SEC Baseball Pick 'Ems

95 posts in this topic

Folks, for those of us who have no basketball team to pull for, it's time to start thinking about college baseball.

I've set up a pick 'ems for SEC baseball. To get to the Pick 'Ems, click on the "Pick 'Ems" button at the top of the page. The first week's picks close on Friday Night (Feb 14th), since the first weekend games start on Feb 14th. The rest of the baseball pick 'ems are also in the system and available for your picks. During the season, picks will close prior to the 1st game of the series.

Here’s the deal with the SEC Baseball Pick ‘Ems. I’ve included a pick ‘ems for those series that SEC teams are involved in over each weekend. On most occasions, the weekend matchups begin on a Thursday or a Friday for a series against the same team over a weekend. Except for those type games mentioned above, weekday games aren’t included since a lot of the weekday games are for one game only (against a common opponent). Any weekend series where an SEC team only plays one common opponent for only one game during the weekend were not included (e.g., weekend tournaments where a team plays 3 different opponents - Auburn vs. Indiana State, Ohio State, and Connecticut in weekend #1). On some occasions, a team may play two different teams twice during the weekend and both opponents are included in the Pick 'Ems.

The winners are decided by which team wins the series. For example, if Team A is scheduled to play Team B for 3 games over the weekend, whichever team wins 2 of 3 (or 3 of 3), gets the win in the pick ‘ems. If there is a rain-out and the teams split (1 win each), then the "pick 'ems" system considers it a tie. Also, for those series where Team A plays Team B for a scheduled 2-game series, or in some cases a 4-game series, if it is a split, the same holds true.

Here’s the series that I included for the first weekend of the pick ‘ems (Feb 14-16). I'll try to post the series and number of games played here in this thread prior to each weekend (similar to what is posted below):

St. Louis at Alabama (3-game series: Friday-Sunday)

Appalachian State at Arkansas (3-game series: Friday-Sunday)

Maryland at Florida (3-game series: Friday-Sunday)

Georgia Southern at Georgia (3-game series: Friday-Sunday)

New Orleans vs. LSU (2-game series: Friday at LSU and Saturday at New Orleans)

Ole Miss at Stetson (3-game series: Friday-Sunday)

Hofstra at Mississippi State (4-game series: Friday-Sunday)

Missouri at North Florida (2-game series, Saturday DH)

Bucknell at South Carolina (3-game series: Friday-Sunday)

Nebraska-Omaha at Tennessee (2-game series: Friday and Sunday)

Purdue at Tennessee (2-game series: Saturday and Sunday)

Northeastern at Texas A&M (3-game series, Friday-Sunday)

Vanderbilt at Long Beach State (3-game series: Friday-Sunday)

If anyone sees any errors, please post them in this thread. Good luck!

I don't see KY @ Virginia.

Thats a take all day.

It's because there was only one game between them (see OP).

Are you dropping the lowest score week like in the past?

We've never dropped the lowest week score. The Pick 'Ems doesn't have that option in the software (at least not that I'm aware of). Plus, some weeks have more series than other weeks.

Me too.

Another easy one this week.

Only one I'm nervous about is Florida @ Miami.

For both my pick 'ems and my own personal reasons haha.

Miami is almost always average.

They have been overrated for the last 6 years in a row or something like that.

They haven't won a series against us since.... 2007?

To be fair, my only memory of Miami is their 2006 super regional against us :(

I can safely say it is impossible for a QB to have a sluggish start vs. Georgia right now

No one with a family and common sense want trump to destroy this country....

Something that bothered me was Lester Holt being Hillary's personal fact checker and attempting to correct Trump consistently. He didn't jump on her for lying when she denied saying TPP is the gold standard of trade deals. It is plain as day that she said it, and relatively recently.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpLQzeCoNnA&app=desktop

So now we'll move on to LSU and Tennessee.
    • Flea
LSU is the only Power 5 team in a state with a tiny population compared to Texas.  LSU and Bama made out like bandits by bringing in A&M.  And to show how autonomous LSU is, wasn't their recent change decided at ULL game?   Houston?  A serious multi-year threat?  With their pack 45,000 seat stadium and limited funds?   They flash every few decades. They won't keep TH that long.   tu?  Can't compete with the SEC brand.  TCU and Baylor?  Self-destruct at least once per 20 years.
