George Zimmerman taken in to custody after threatening wife/father-in-law with gun

9 posts in this topic

George Zimmerman, the man who was acquitted of shooting and killing Trayvon Martin, was taken into custody Monday after an armed altercation with another person, police say.

More on this story

The Associated Press reports that Zimmerman's wife, Shellie, called police after he allegedly threatened both she and her father with a gun.

Authorities in Laky Mary, Fla. say that the incident happened in the central Florida town that's about 20 miles north of Orlando, WKMG-TV reports.

Lake Mary is a town of about 14,000 that sits just southwest of Sanford, where Trayvon Martin's murder took place.

Zimmerman was found not guilty July 13 in the shooting of Martin, a 17-year-old unarmed teenager, in Sanford.

His wife, Shellie, filed for divorce from George last week.

This will be merged with the all things Zimmerman thread shortly for sure, but I'm wondering if this even really happened or his wife is trying to get an advantage in their divorce proceedings.

Could be the case.

Who knows with Zimmerman. Half the people reported he was some really nice dude who enjoyed helping others, the other half potrayed him as being some kind of asshole.

Wouldn't be the first time that an about to be ex-wife pushed some trumped up charges to get an advantage in the divorce...

Reading the reports now saying that he never brandished his gun, but that he put his hand on his gun. I'm going to err on the side of this being a disgruntled wife who wants the divorce to go her way. She's already stated that she wants the divorce to go through as soon as possibile, but she will still try to get her hands on 1/2 of the money Zimmerman could possibly make from his lawsuit, book/movie deals, etc.

We had a Kia dealership owner here in Nashville that apparently had a felony conviction from 30 years ago. He got into a fight with his wife and allegedly hit her, so she turned him in for assault but also for the rifle he had, which as a felon is a federal charge. The man basically disappeared over night. Her divorce attorney probably gets standing ovations when ever he goes to lawyer bars.

Hell, my wife has family like that. Both have felony records, both still involved in crap though ought not be, and both always fussing and fighting going back and forth threating to get the police involved again whenever one or the other threatens divorce. It's like they want to be miserable...

And in your example, the way the legal system is set up now, there has to be precious little evidence for you to get sent up on a domestic violence charge. Woman's word is about all it takes...

Well, now the news is saying that his soon to be exes refused to sign an afadavit and press charges and GZ volunteered the security camera tapes to the police. Also the police have said they did not find a gun on his person or in his vehicle.

Sounds like the soon to be ex was lying her ass off, realized there was proof she was lying and that a perjury charge wasn't the best way to get ahead in the divorce...
