Driskel Signs with Red Sox?

17 posts in this topic

He can still be our QB if he doesn't take a signing bonus and he can play for the Red Sox after his football career is over

Sounds like the Red Sox locking up his rights for the future. As a 29th rounder they can't give him enough money to give up football even if they wanted to.

Yeah. The most a post 11th rounder can get without it counting towards their allotted money for the top 10 rounds is 100k.

Signing doesnt mean much. Cooper signed with one of the Texas teams and he continued to play for the Gators.

JD made a smart move.If he cant make it in the nfl he have baseball to fall back on. Hope this doesn't hurt him on the football field we need him to come up big this year if we want to be in the hunt for the east and the NC.

At first I was worried, but then I saw where he would be playing football still. Good news for us

Just another option for him. I am sure he is happy about the chance to try it if he so chooses.

Any Gator fan who still had those hopes after seeing we didn't have enough OL to even have our Spring game was experiencing a pipe dream... 15 season-ending injuries later and even a winning record was all but lost.
